Injury Management Consultant

Job Description 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Injury Management Consultant to join our small team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing effective injury management strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. You will work closely with employers, injured workers, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to facilitate successful return-to-work outcomes and reduce the impact of workplace injuries on individuals and organisations.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for employers and injured workers in matters related to injury management.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of workplace injuries and collaborate with medical professionals to develop customised injury management plans.
  • Provide guidance to employers on injury prevention strategies, workplace modifications, and suitable duties to facilitate the timely and safe return to work of injured employees.
  • Liaise with insurance providers, rehabilitation providers, and other relevant parties to coordinate and monitor the progress of injured workers’ rehabilitation programs.
  • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of injury management plans to ensure their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments as required.
  • Educate employers and employees on their rights and obligations under relevant legislation, policies, and procedures pertaining to injury management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of injury management activities, including case notes, progress reports, return-to-work plans and correspondence.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and legislative changes related to injury management and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the broader injury management team to develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and educational materials.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling, Exercise Physiology, Exercise and Sport Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience in injury management, workers’ compensation, or related fields, preferably within Western Australia.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices related to injury management, including the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety principles and their application in injury prevention and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and establish effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail, with the ability to self-manage.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex injury cases and develop appropriate management strategies.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with injury management software and the Microsoft Office suite.
